DESCRIPTION

A picturesque mountain village in Kyrgyzstan. Yekshen, a talented runner, grew up faster and is more mature than a metric twelve-year-old. He’s smart, strong and independent. He has no support in the family – parents are divorced, father drinks. These are real problems faced by many Kyrgyz teenagers today. The chance to change the boy’s fate is to take part in a running competition. Yekshen has an extremely strong will, he is determined, he wants victory above all for his family, which is most precious to him.

DIRECTOR
Mirlan Abdykalykov (1982), actor and director. He started his career as an actor playing leading roles in his father, Aktan Abdykalykov’s films. In 2004, he graduated Journalism Faculty of Kyrgyz National State University. In 2010, he directed his first short film, “Pencil against Ants”, which was premiered in Rotterdam IFF. In 2015, Mirlan Abdykalykov shot his first fiction feature film, “Heavenly Nomadic”, which premiered in Karlovy Vary IFF and screened at many other festivals around the world. His second feature, “Running to the Sky” was premiered at 24. Busan IFF.
