DESCRIPTION
Texas humour, a lot of grotesque and strong guitar riffs. On stage now welcome –ZZTop – a well-known strong Texas band, which is blending several musical genres like blues, rock and boogie. They have been stealing fans’ hearts all around the world for fifty years. Since 1970, the personnel composition has remained unchanged to this day: trio Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill, Frank Beard. We see sincere interviews with the musicians and their fans, animations, previously unpublished archives and an intimate performance of the band in the legendary Gruene Hall, shot exclusively for this film.
DIRECTOR
Sam Dunn (1974) is a Canadian musician, award-winning documentary filmmaker and anthropologist. He is also the co-founder of film and production company Banger. His first documentary film, “Metal: A Headbanger’s Journey”, won a Gemini Award for Best Writing in Documentary. Dunn co-directed and hosted the biggest-ever TV series in the history of heavy metal, “Metal Evolution”. He was also nominated for a Grammy for his film “Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage” and won a 2016 Peabody Award & International Emmy for his work on the Netflix original series “Hip-Hop Evolution”.FILMOGRAPHY
