DESCRIPTION
Miloš Forman. Anxious and fighting for his reasons, tirelessly seeking for freedom, both artistic and individual. A champion of the Czechoslovakian New Wave, after his emigration in 1968 he made outstanding films in the USA, including the Oscar-winning “Flight over the Cuckoo’s Nest”. Jakub Hejna and Helena Třeštíková looked through more than a hundred archival materials, many of which had not been published before, and they made a story of Forman’s life, full of twists and turns, of his courage and talents. The narrator is the director’s son, theatre actor Petr Forman.

DIRECTOR
Helena Třeštíková (1949), born in Prague, one of the most successful Czech documentarists. She graduated in the documentary directing program at FAMU. Since 1974, she has made over 50 documentaries, focusing mostly on human relationships and social issues. She specializes in timelapse documentaries in which she follows her protagonists over an extended period of time. She won the main competition at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival twice. Helena co-founded the Film & Sociology Foundation (1994) and the Man And Time Foundation (1994). In 2007, she shortly held the position of the Minister of Culture.Jakub Hejna (1976) Czech editor and director, born in Prague. In 2001, Jakub started his own film studio called Young-Film. He was the editor of many of Helena Třeštíková‛s successful documentaries and edited also feature films. He debuted as a director with the “Divadlo Svoboda“ (Theatre Svoboda) documentary about his grandfather, stage designer Josef Svoboda. With Helena Třeštíková, he co-directed the “Zkáza krásou“ (Doomed Beauty, 2016) documentary about the life of actress Lída Baarová.
