The jury: Agnieszka Żulewska – actress, Maciej Cuske – documentary film director, Tomasz Gąssowski – film music composer, after watching 34 films, they decided to award the following films:

– 1st Prize in the amount of PLN 5,000: “NINA”, dir. Hristo Simeonov;

– 2n Prize in the amount of PLN 3,000: „THE END OF THE SEASON” [“KONIEC SEZONU”], dir. Stanisław Cuske (Juror Maciej Cuske did not participate in the deliberations);

– 3rd Prize in the amount of PLN 2,000: “THE LILLIE’S SELLER” [“LA VENDEDORA DE LIROS”], dir. Igor Galuk;

– Special Mention for the animated film “STORY” (directed by Jolanta Bankowska) for a brilliant analysis of the contemporary world;

– Special Mention for the film “ANNA” (dir. Dekel Berenson) for tenderness towards the characters and the ability to observe their real world;

– Special Mention for Piotr Żurawski for his convincing acting performance in the film “MARCEL” (directed by Marcin Mikulski), which in a light and witty way combined a surreal form with the bitter truth about loneliness in the contemporary world;

– Honorable Mention to Stéphanie Michelini for his role in the film “NOW, DAPHNE” [“TRAVERSER LA NUIT”] (dir. Johann G. Louis).

The sponsor of the prizes at the International Short Film Competition is MAKonLine Ubezpieczenia.

The Special Award of the Artistic Director of the Two Riversides Film and Art Festival (extra-statutory award), funded by the 21. Społeczne Liceum im. Jerzy Grotowski in the amount of PLN1000 receives: “FRONTIERA” (directed by Alessandro Di Gregorio).

This means that most film screenings will take place online. Access to online screenings is granted after purchasing a virtual ticket, using the code on the ticket.

We have created the ONLINE CINEMA consisting of three halls: Amber, Ruby, and Sapphire.

The Amber and Ruby Halls are designed for online screenings (access available after purchasing a ticket) in sections: World Under Canvas, International Short Films Competition, Music – My Love, And God Created Actress – Gabriela Muskała, Director Retrospective – Elio Petri, Federico Fellini – Happy Birthday!, Eco-Awareness, Special Screenings.

Access to these online screenings (i.e. the ability to watch them) is possible no later than 30 minutes after the scheduled start of the screening.

For online shows, the number of seats and the number of available tickets are limited.

The Sapphire Hall (the access is free of charge) is a place where you can find online panels with filmmakers: Cinema Lesson, Cinema Talks.

The rights to screen films online in the Amber and Ruby Halls cover only the Polish territory. Events in the Sapphire Hall are available without restrictions.

However, knowing that the most important thing for cinema lovers is to be able to watch a film on a big screen and in a unique atmosphere, we have additionally organised an open-air cinema in Kazimierz Dolny Castle. The screenings will take place every festival evening at 9 PM.

Due to the safety requirements, the maximum number of seats in the open-air cinema is 150.

From the 2307 films sent from all continents, we selected 34 that touched us or amused us the most; these are films that have been with us for a long time and we want to pass them on.

There are prizes in the competition. The first place is 5000 PLN, the second place is 3000 PLN, the third place is 2000 PLN. MAKonLine Ubezpieczenia is the official sponsor of the statutory prizes in the International Short Film Competition.

The jury will include: Agnieszka Żulewska (theater and film actress, for her role in the film “Chemistry” directed by Bartosz Prokopowicz, she received the Zbyszek Cybulski Award 2016, she starred in many short films and several feature productions, currently associated with TR Warszawa), Maciej Cuske (director of documentaries and screenwriter, awarded many times for his films such as “Cure”, “Antiquarian Bookshop” or “In the Sky, on Earth”, his latest film “The Whale of Lorino” will be shown in this year’s “World under a tent” section) , Tomasz Gąssowski (film music composer, for the music for the film “Imagine” directed by Andrzej Jakimowski he received the MocArta award, “Cinema Lesson” with his participation will take place in the Two Riversides).

14th Film and Art Festival Two Riversides takes place August 1-9, 2020. We encourage you to read our newsletters, and to follow us on FACEBOOK and INSTAGRAM.

After a few months of preparations, taking into consideration the current epidemiological situation in Poland and abroad, as well as our audiences’ safety, we have decided for the so-called “hybrid” form of the Festival.

It means that feature and documentary films, as well as International Short Films Competition will be available online. We are creating an e-cinema, a virtual Two Riversides movie theatre with two screening separate rooms. Our hearts, however, have stayed in Kazimierz Dolny and Janowiec because Two Riversides is also about the magic of these places. Our mobile festival studio will enable us to organise meetings with authors from Poland in various environments: at the city square, by the Vistula river, in galleries, at the Kazimierz Dolny Castle. The meetings with authors from abroad will take place online and will be streamed live, later they will stay available on our website and facebook page. We will also be present in Mięćmierz.

We are building an artistic program just as we would normally be building the Festival. We are keeping the “World Under Canvas” section, which is a presentation of the latest premiere productions. The “Music My Love” series, which includes films on musicians and various musical styles, will feature the works of Italian director Elio Petri, artist yet to be discovered in Poland. Gabriela Muskała will be the protagonist of the “And God Created Actor” cycle. We will have a few very good documentaries on the topic of ecology and the search for new solutions which could inhibit the devastation of our planet. This Festival event is carried out in cooperation with the European Committee. We are doing our best to make the program very attractive. We want the viewers to feel that they are participating in a really exceptional event.

Apart from the traditional meetings with artists we have also planned new forms of activity, which will be streamed live. The new sections include “Lessons in Painting and Drawing,” “Festival’s Kitchen,” “Move it move it”, “Let’s Get Critical.” Through these events we want to show the beauty of Kazimierz Dolny, Janowiec and Mięćmierz, as well as introduce you to local attractions and the ways to spend a safe vacation in these charming places in the Lublin region.

All this is a completely new experience for our whole team but since Two Riverside have always been an unconventional festival, this situation is a source of positive, creative energy for each one of us.

The access to all festival activities will be possible through our website www.dwabrzegi.pl. Cinema zones will be available after you register and purchase a ticket (for the ticketed screenings). The access to meetings and other activity zones are free.

We invite you to this year’s Two Riversides Festival in a new formula! At the same time we want to thank you for your support and messages we have received, and are still receiving. With time we will inform you about the details of the program. See you online!

Soon we are also starting a crowdfunding project, where you will have the chance to support the festival and receive attractive rewards.
