Power, money, political corruption, lies and a ruthless fight to stay on top. Sound familiar? The titled “kingdom” is a political deal that continues despite the fall of “kings”. Manuel López-Vidal, Vice-President of the autonomy, is blamed for political corruption in his party. From an extremely liked politician he becomes accused of financial embezzlement and abuse of power. Supported by his wife and daughter, he tries to continue playing a difficult game and trying to change the prevailing balance of power. Sorogoyen avoids simple judgement, he prefers to ask the question “why?”.

Big Animal was meant to be the feature debut of excellent director Krzysztof Kieślowski. However, during the communist era in Poland, there was no permission for such a film. The script found after Kieślowski’s death was developed by Jerzy Stuhr, who directed and played the main role in “Big Animal”. The result is a poetic, metaphorical film that deals with the issue of tolerance, otherness and even love for one’s neighbour. The hero, a bank clerk, together with his wife, a kindergarten teacher, take care of an abandoned camel. They are raising the opposition of the whole town and alone they are facing increasingly bizarre accusations against the animal.

Equality in the contemporary world is a still valid topic, but equality in the church, at least for traditionalists sounds like heresy. In a small town in the eastern part of Macedonia every January local pop throws a wooden cross into the river. Hundreds of men jump into the water to get the crucifix. The cross brings happiness and prosperity to person who catches it. And what if it will be a woman? Petrunia does not intend to give up her victory.

Just as important is what we are working on as the way we relate to the world through creativity. German documentary filmmaker Sabine Herpich observes disabled artists, who work at the Mosaik art studio in Berlin. Initially, the studio was one of the workshops, where everyday objects were created for money. Now art objects from Mosaik are present on the international art market. Herpich’s film focuses on works of art itself, the creators’ disability is secondary.
