DESCRIPTION
An original, truly great Italian film with wonderful actors – Marcello Mastroianni and Gian Maria Volonte. ” Todo modo” is a term from the works of Ignacy Loyola, and the film itself is based on a novel by the Sicilian writer, Leonardo Sciasci. A group of decision-makers from the highest circles of power, the clergy and businessmen meet in a hermitage guesthouse for retreats led by Catholic priests. Petri takes an insightful look at the mechanisms of power, the connection between politics, the church and the mafia, intertwining sense and philosophy, giving the whole an ironic climate.

DIRECTOR
Elio Petri, actually Eraclio Petri (1929-1982) initially an Italian film critic, later a screenwriter and director. An activist and communist activist, he left the party after the USSR invasion of Hungary in 1956. His films have been very successful, among others he won an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film - "Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion " (1970) and a Palme d'Or at the 25th. Cannes IFF for "The Working Class Goes to Heaven" (1971). He made films about political and social issues, often with elements of surrealism, irony and grotesque.FILMOGRAPHY
